Hamilton Dominates Montreal While Alonso Languishes

My congratulations to Lewis Hamilton on the first of his many Grand Prix victories.

In what was an event filled afternoon in Montreal yesterday, Lewis put in a textbook drive for the win right from the start and put the psychological boot to Fernando's head all at the same time. Simply beautiful. These are the drives that only champions (or future champions) can produce. Lewis kept his cool the entire afternoon and never put a wheel wrong even though his lead was negated Four times due to the safety car being dispatched for numerous accidents.

The most serious and chilling accident was on lap 27 when Robert Kubica touched wheels with Jarno Trulli's Toyota going down into the hairpin at full chat, some 180mph, which proceeded to launch the car into the air and directly into the top of the retaining wall at which point the car just simply disintegrated and rolled over and over down the track finally coming to rest on it's side right near the turn in point for the corner. Let me tell you it looked horrific, and with all the debris coming off the car I saw the side head protection come out of the cockpit. From that point on Kubica's head was being rapidly and violently snapped back and forth until the car came to rest. I saw some slight hand movement from him and then that stopped just before the safety crew arrived. For sure I thought he was dead, and so did a lot of other people for that matter. Just to put this crash into perspective, the last time something of this magnitude took place, both Senna and Ratzenberger died while Barrichello survived.
Late last night the following statement was released by the medical staff at the hospital “Mr. Kubica has undergone all the necessary medical examinations and we don't foresee any further treatment will be required following the accident. He is suffering from a light trauma to his brain as well as a sprain on his left ankle.” The fact that the driver is still alive is a huge testament to the strength and design of these F1 cars. The car did exactly what it was supposed to do, dissipate all the energy of the crash and leave the driver safe and intact.
Once all that was taken care of, the racing resumed.

Now back to Slacklosto, ya, that's right, slack-lost-o. This guy's driving style has up and disappeared on him, so now he is lost amongst all the others desperately searching for anything that will help him. It would seem the only way for him to win is when Mr. Dennis steps in with 52 laps remaining and tells everyone to "hold station", a la Monaco. For what was for sure the second time this season but probably the third, Jerknut tried to win the race on the first corner having started from P2 behind the smooth drive stylings of his teammate Hamilton. Anyway, he went wide onto the grass and damaged his under tray, which meant some aerodynamics would be missing for the rest of the afternoon. Henceforth, he made several more trips across the same patch of grass down by turn One. This is clearly what champions are NOT made of. 'Ol Schumi wouldn't have made those amateur mistakes to be sure. Give it up Alonslow your season is done as of now.
Speaking of done...how about the stellar performances so far this season from Ralphy boy...NOT. This guy is the top earner on the grid for 2007 at around 30 million. Next year if ANYBODY signs him it'll be for 2 mill. and not a quid more. Truly a non-performer. One of my friends says Sutil should be driving Ralph's car and I tend to agree with him 100 %.

Outside of Hamilton's excellent drive the next best and well deserved drive into the points came from Takuma Sato, the best part being when he passed Alonso going up the back straight for a points paying position. Both Hamilton and Sato's success deserves the highest praise because it was earned on merit rather than relying on good fortune or attrition.
Well, that's enough for now. See you in a week’s time down at Indy where Lewis will again dominate and Ferrari will wish upon wish that they still had Mikey in the car.
Ciao
