2006 Japanese Grand Prix

ALONSO MAKES GOOD ON A RARE FERRARI ENGINE FAILURE

One must go back to 2000 and the French Grand Prix ( 112 races ago ) to witness Schumacher having an engine failure. Unfortunately, another one happened today in Japan with about 17 laps to go and it all but scuttled Michaels chances of winning an Eighth World Championship.

Now, for Michael to win the Championship he must win the final race in Brazil in two weeks and Alonso must not finish in the points or have a DNF which would mean they both tie in points at 126 each. Michael would then win the Championship because he would have one more win than Alonso. As witnessed in Japan today, anything can happen. And I only hope that it does.

Although Alonso did drive the wheels off his Renault today just to get into second place, it is clear that he was no match for the Ferrari of Mike. It is a shame to come so close and lose to a blown engine, but that is part of racing.

Here's to Mike and the Ferrari Team in the hopes that it all goes their way in Brazil.
