2006 Italian Grand Prix

The following is courtesy of Formula1.com

“Michael Schumacher scored an emotional and dramatic 90th victory at Monza on Sunday afternoon, and closed to within two points of Fernando Alonso in their fight for the world championship…Immediately after the race Ferrari confirmed that Schumacher will retire at the end of the season, and that Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa will spearhead their 2007 campaign.”

Once again my congratulations to Schumi for a brilliant drive and the best possible result – 10 pts, while Alonslow got himself a DNF and Zero points.

The Qualifying penalty issued to Alonslack was justified, as he broke some rules according to the Stewards of the race. It would seem to me that the only way for Renault to beat Ferrari is to use illegal equipment like the mass dampers they got clipped for a few races ago. So to those people that are claiming a Ferrari Conspiracy, or that Ferrari bought or is buying the championship, I say screw off and bow your heads at the church of Schumacher. Pay your respects to THE greatest single Formula 1 driver of all time. Nobody re-writes the ENTIRE record book of Formula 1, or any sport for that matter, by buying his or her way there. They do it with a supremely high skill set that is in a league of it’s own.

The next three races will be very exciting to watch and I can’t wait. Schumi will win the World Championship this year and there could be nothing more appropriate than that result to finish off a stunningly brilliant career.
